A dramatic construct

Anti-Semitism is but one aspect of the mythological construct that is the Jewish people. The Jewish people are over-determined with meaning. The Jewish people are the incarnation of a character in a book. They are quintessentially a dramatic construct.
Anti-Semitism occurs when others can define the Jewish people. The Jews must use their wiles to develop counter-narratives that at once defend the good name of the Jewish people and, at the same time, help people understand why it is that promoters of anti-Semitism are misguided.
