Animal sacrifices demonstrate we are partly divine

We offer as sacrifices the animals we’ve domesticated because by allowing themselves to be domesticated the animals have presented themselves as offerings. By offering YHWH an animal sacrifice we to demonstrate to Him we are partly divine, and that we submit to His superior divinity as an appeasement. 

Offerings of appeasements and tributes are expressions of humility and an antidote to the inclinations toward hubris to which man is heir.
