Can we update the ancient wisdoms?

There's little doubt the biblical regime was no more successful in implementing its ideologies and principles than any other form of government. Fascism and communism failed just as decidedly; capitalism and mercantilism did not fail yet, but the jury is still out as to whether their success at proliferating is merely masking their inevitable collapse, as seems to be what the present fragile, brittle state of the world economic order seems to be indicating. So even though God was the architect of the biblical regime He wasn't able to make it stick, ever. It was too complicated for the ancient peoples at the time to understand well enough to make work. Nor did the peoples of the ancient world have the technology and the skill base to pull it off.

How much that biblical regime could be updated and brought into the contemporary state of affairs is still an open question, even on theoretical grounds. Where is the bedrock of Israel, the analogue in the ancient biblical formulation to the tribal structure of the people? What are today's core values, the analogue to the ancient biblical formulation of freedom, dignity and covenant? What does the transformational path from the present to some future Messianic government look like? Etc.
