To enter into relationship with an alien, some sort of 'other' whose reality opens doors of experience not otherwise available to an individual person, is in a way an act of sacred covenanting.
To know God is to be in the ultimate relationship with an Other. It makes one feel vital, alive with the passion of knowing and being known by something/one other than oneself. To be purely of one kind and then to know and be known by one who is purely of an entirely different kind is exhilerating.
