The diversity of spiritual possibilities

ChZ"L's spiritual reach became truncated, and they lost both their deep and their broad perspective.
The ancient teachings did not require the exclusion of the spiritual vision of other peoples. Moshe took issue only with Egypt and with the Canaanite tribes, against whom he had specific objections. There was room in the ancient worldview for a broad phalanx of spiritual understandings that could be consistent with the biblical regime.
The Mosaic teachings were about the political system into which a proper spiritual component could be introduced. The rest of the spiritual reality Moshe was ready to leave open to whatever interpretation suited the individual. The ancient worldview had more respect for the potential diversity of spiritual possibilities.
