The final test as to whether the rabbis will have turned out to be proper stewards of the ancient Biblical teachings will be whether now, with the imminent coming of the Messiah, will they be willing to surrender control of the teachings. If they yield, then we will be able to say they were faithful stewards; if they, like Pharaoh, refuse to send Israel away so that Israel's sons could enter the Promised Land, then they will have become corrupted with their own power and their role in Jewish history will resolve as suspect and degenerate.
