Jews and political stability

When the political order was stable and predictable the Jewish leadership was able to secure rights and privileges for the Jewish people which rivaled those of many other social groupings of that time. The eruptions of violence against the Jews were often the result of breakdowns in central authority. As such, Israel's sons' sovereignty rose and fell inversely with the general centralization of power whereas the welfare of the diaspora communities rose and fell directly with the general centralization of power.
