Layered humus

To value the fertile core is to set one's values right. It is to value the deep places where what is being valued is not easy to come by; it is to value what grows up slowly, in layers. 

Such growth is the opposite of exponential. Such growth is non-linear in the opposite direction. It grows only by one generation forming the ground out of which the next generation finds the nourishment to grow further. That layered humus out of which each generation grows is the substance of the fertile core. It is the very stuff of which fertility is made.
