Purity: the core of the nation's self-understanding

To what sort of message would the people of Israel respond in order for them to agree to discard their love affair with the diaspora and instead to embrace the deeper teachings of the biblical regime? 

Sitting on a bus, watching the people who make up this country of Israel, the question arises what do they need to hear or to have happen to them or what do they need to experience or to perform or to have performed for them in order to bring them back into a state of purity? 

Long ago, well back in a time when the ancient world still believed in such things, they degraded the notion of purity and turned it into a silly little game rather than what it really was: the core of the nation's self-understanding.
