Rabbinic collapse

 Rabbinic power collapsed with the Emancipation. Like the Soviet Union, its own contradictions finally led to its demise. No-one had to overthrow the rabbinic regime. Its own leaders were not up to the tasks of the power to which they were, by tradition, authorized.
