A proper Jewish leadership needs to have a robust vision of what the meaning and the destiny of the Jewish people really are. The precarious character of Jewish existence makes it a prerequisite for its leadership to have a deeper sense of what the purpose of the people is all about, else the leaders guide the people according to the ordinary values of the contemporary political norms, which might work for empires and vassals but simply doesn't work for the beta-site politics that runs to the heart of the Jewish people's reason for being on this Earth.
