The definition of being indigenous to place is that it won't go away. Its vital systems are bound up with that place. Something indigenous to a place has a covenantal relationship with that place.
When we look at the world as a closed system we come to understand that there is no ‘away.’ On a sphere everything gets recycled whether we like it or not. We are covenantally bound to the Earth.
