The pre-cognitive sense of one's self corresponds to one's sense of purpose.
The God Who affords a person the conditions for being free to make something of one's self also enables its members to know themselves as themselves, even before they know themselves (Socratically) as their personalities.
To know oneself in the first place is to know oneself immediately, and to know oneself immediately is to know oneself intuitively and pre-cognitively, below the level of one's awareness and consciousness. Radical skepticism therefore implies a radical self-denial and consequent self-ignorance.
