Authority & covenant

Authority differs from honor in that it introduces covenant. 

Covenant implies self-restraint. 

Authority wields power but up to the limits of the other's authority, whereas honor wields power to the degradation of the other's authority. 

Authority is enhanced by competing authority; honor is diminished by competing honor.
