Organized crime

The basic instrument of rule in a society governed by power/challengers is terror.
When authority is absent we don't really get anarchy and chaos, we get a smaller and more ruthless forms of governance where local power wielders lord it over the citizenry while stronger men lord it over the local power wielders, etc.
That rule of power is the modus operandi of organized crime. The entire Middle East is in the grip of a massive network of organized criminals, which the Arab populations call notables and elites. This organized criminal rule has developed its own instruments of force, all instruments of terror.
That the logic of terror has found its most fertile proving ground in the populations of the Middle East is no accident. It comes directly out of the failures of the UN to recognize the pathological character of political life as it is practiced in the entire Middle Eastern region.
Sixty years into it, the terror logic has now morphed into a more sophisticated form – assymmetrical warfare. The world needs to solve this problem once and for all.
