When Rabin chose Arafat over the West Bank Palestinians he was opting for the strongest power-broker on the scene.
Rabin chose the strong man approach to the problem, and crashed in the process.
Oslo was a sham. It was not about liberating the Palestinian people, it was about delivering the Palestinian people to the rule by strong-man that underpinned that peace process.
