The parade of honor

When the gap between honorable appearance and sordid reality becomes too wide, the older generation that is venerating the codes of honor that sustains the honorable appearances, that older generation loses its authority as the new generation invokes some sort of generation gap and casts the prior generation into disrepute.
The parade of honor the honor elite use to mask the indiscretions that of necessity, from time to time, discolor the white honor of an authority-driven society, that parade of honor too often degrades into the camouflage that masks the brutish corruption of a power grab.
Authority has yet to devise a way to distinguish authentic honorable leadership from the power games of the unworthy, albeit they mask their grab in the lip service they pay to the values of honor they would seem to assume. The counter-culture decried phoniness and hypocrisy; it should have decried the foolish naivete that allows the honor elite to worship the unworthy leadership of fascistic pretenders to the wearing of the mantle of the honor code.
