The Palestinian people are the Paris Hilton of international diplomacy. The Palestinian people:

• is famous for its celebrity; 
• it makes the news for the spats it gets into with its friends and enemies; 
• apart from having a genius for managing its own public relations, it has few intellectual and creative resources of its own; 
• it has rich friends and is well established with influential peoples; 
• it is charming and at the same time notorious for bad behavior; 
• people stay attentive as a guilty pleasure and amusement; 
• it presents to the paparazzi press a curious combination of danger coupled to a soft-porn sort of eroticism, arousal and availability; and, 
• take away its money and precious little will be left in which to be interested.
