If grace would rule, then the stranger must know his place and the stranger must be given a place. The present situation in Europe with respect to the Muslim minorities is therefore the acid test of whether those societies truly can move beyond the exigencies of the honor codes and govern domestically tranquil societies with the classlessness that comes of peace and love and grace dictating the conduct in the heart and mind of every European citizen.
