An honor code is installed to supercede the reflexive honor code of lex talionis.
When society dismantles its code of honor, it automatically and at the same time unleashes this more primitive, reflexive honor code that is more fierce and more unforgiving. Which is why the left revels in the Palestinian suicide-bombing. Such practices implicitly endorse a more sophisticated form of reflexive honor killing. It is a form of sophistication in a reflexive honor code to which the leftists themselves don't have to subscribe, and which doesn't come out of their own submission to any honor code of their own, which submission would implicate them in a system that would be anathematic to their notions of justice and prudence.
It's a way for the left to not have its cake and not eat it to when it comes to the discomfiting matter of codes of honor.
