Heter makhira is a legal fiction that papers over the rabbinic (what we consider to be) mis-construal of the laws of chag hamatzot.
- So what would you do with the brewery, assuming the brewer cannot feasibly cleanse his operation?
- What did God intend when He devised the laws of chometz?
- Did he foresee a people who wouldn't ever drink whiskey or beer?
