Prestige & quagmires

GWB is to the conservative movement what JFK was to the liberal movement. 

It might well be the conservative movement was launched on JFK's watch and that its first exercise of power was to assassinate the President and then his brother. 

In any case, both Presidents brought a new crew into Washington holding aloft the emblem of American prestige in the world. Both led the nation into quagmires, the one into the Vietnam War, the other into the War in Iraq.
