Man's instincts are seen either as savage and unruly unless restrained by the authority and the power of the ruling elites, or as loving and compliant unless ground down and oppressed by the authority and the power of the ruling elites.
Rationality is either the dominator of unreasonable passions or the suppressor of the spirit of community and of common purpose.
On the one side lies fascism, on the other anarchism.
