Too self-serving for comfort

We find ourselves drawn to leave America and to settle instead in Israel because the ruling class in America is showing itself to be too self-serving for comfort. At least in Israel one can speak about the leader's duty for serving the public with a dignity that is becoming less and less plausible in a country like America where the leadership is systematically plundering the commonwealth and justifying such plunder to itself at every turn.

The irony of government by the plunder of others is that it ultimately devolves into self-plunder. It happened in the Soviet Union and it's happening right before our eyes in the United States. We can't stop the self-plunder because our connection to the ruling class is just as devoid of the shared values of civic responsibility as is the void of the rest of them; and we can't stand around and watch it happening as if it were all business as usual.
