When authority loses legitimacy

When the authority loses its legitimacy, honor becomes internal rather than external.
Honor ceases to be a matter of good name and reputation and becomes rather a matter of resisting the established order.
Right vs left in America these days amounts to a struggle between this external honor that supports legitimate authority and internal honor that resists illegitimate honor. The center comprehends both.
