Vengeance mimics gift exchange

Vengeance mimics gift exchange.
  1. Each party delivers a self-initiated injury or gift to the other;
  2. a period of digestion ensues during which time the receiving party appreciates or resents the other party for their action;
  3. the other party reciprocates;
  4. a relationship is built where the parties stand out as particular to each other;
  5. a culture evolves either of anger or of generosity; and
  6. the chain of action and reaction continues indefinitely.
  • The pagans saw the world in terms of unending vengeance;
  • The worshippers of a providential God in the mainstream religions see the world in terms of unending beneficence.
