Deservedness is fairness in contribution rather than in allocation.
'To each' and 'from each' is about deservedness. To perfect our ability to recognize and measure deservedness requires us to develop a gift economy and its constituent institutions and to become expert in them along the same lines that our society has developed a market economy to perfect our ability to recognize and measure exchange value.
Autonomy is that to which we ascribe deservedness. Giftedness is precisely what is undeserved, or, if not undeserved, then at least unearned.
A gift is the expression of heteronomy. God gives gifts because God is the quintessential 'other.' God is the heteronomous power that can bestow autonomy.
