Meaning feeds the will

Meaning feeds the will, which is guided by purpose.
  • The measure of how much things are worth corresponds to how much pleasure they will provide.
  • The measure of how much meaning something has corresponds to how much of oneself one is willing to dedicate to the thing.
That dedication of oneself to some thing is an act of will. Once the dedication is established the conduct is guided by a regimental sense of purpose. That purpose finds expression in the society's institutional context.
