Government by the lower classes

The tension between the obligations and responsibilities of the centrist institution to the general principles of right and justice as the nation sees it on the one hand, and the trust the nation must place in the centrist institution, on the other hand, is the game the Cheney administration played with the Constitution.
The more extreme form of democracy altered the role of the governing group from a small elite with a code of honor of its own, albeit more accesible to the lower classes than had theretofore been the case, to government by the lower classes themselves irrespective of their having joined that governing elite.
The irony of the matter is that such democratization of the governing elite came from the right rather than from the left, although Stalinism was such a one as well, if you would call Stalimism a leftist ideology.
