Honor is the regulation of conduct by custom, which is set by the judgments of a ruling elite which itself comprises an honor group, as opposed to the regulation of conduct by laws that are based on evidence and the judgment of that evidence according to transparent modes of due process.
The honor and the custom and the judgment of the honor codes of the ruling elites of each centrist institution are the remnants of traditionalism in a rapidly secularizing Western civilization.
The struggle between those customs and the universal principles of the secular society is one of the core struggles of the 21st century.
