Affection is the opposite of alienation.
Affection refers to
"a way of attending to the world (or not attending to it), a way of relating to the world (or not relating to it), a stance, a disposition, towards the world – ultimately a 'way of being' in the world." (The Master and His Emissary, Iain McGilchrist, 2009; page 184).
Alienation refers to the removal of oneself from the stance, the disposition, the way of being in the world.
