God comes down to Man

The point of God's covenant with Israel is for Him to descend into the realm of the practical, the purposive, in order to allow the people of Israel to find the limit, to counteract the excess of purposiveness that leads to the wastage of the natural environment and a despoiling of the Earth.
God comes down to Man, to the Earth, to oversee the Earth's administration.
For God to enter into the political/economic system of the people of Israel He in effect needs to disable part of the right hemisphere function that favors relationship over instrumentality. To have a God in history is to have, in some sense, a lesser god. That lessening ultimately ends in an expansion of the divine-mundane relation and a richer, fuller experience for both realms.
