In the knowing

To see clearly is to see enough to know precisely what it is one is seeing.
The clarity is in the knowing rather than in the seeing. When our vision is blurry it makes it difficult to identify what one is looking at. The clarity of the knowledge of the thing masks the experience of the thing in context.
The focus of perception spotlights the thing but blacks out its environment.
