The story of the master (the right hemisphere) and his emissary (the left hemisphere) is the story of hubris contained.
The left hemisphere wants to claim for itself the consciousness of the reality in which the person lives. The right hemisphere says "You are part of the process but things begin and end with me. Don't presume to be able to manage it all through your own capacities." This argument mirrors almost exactly the argument between God and Man, where God says "You are part of the process but things begin and end with Me. Don't presume to be able to manage it all through your own capacities."
The instrumental left hemisphere gets things done but the left is the inferior hemisphere and so finds itself in a constant struggle for power. The left hemisphere has, so to speak, a chip on its shoulder.
