When the evidence forces a hard reality

In the end, hubris is a self-deception. To believe in one's own omnipotence is to subscribe to the power of institutional organization to overrule the power of natural human community.
Hubris believes that no matter how false a conviction, everything could be made to become true, given enough organizational energy placed behind it. And when the evidence forces a hard reality onto the totalitarian leader he simply punts into the future and claims his policies will be vindicated by future historians.
The success of the business could always be assured by the continued support of loans from the banks.
