Racism, imperialism and totalitarianism go beyond the material interests and needs of the perpetrators to fulfill some imagined notion of unlimited desire. The malady of racism, imperialism and totalitarianism reduces to hubris taken to such an extreme that it becomes manifest in some fantasy life the perpetrators wish to pursue.
