Outsider status

The original source of government credit was the aristocracy supporting the monarch. Eventually the monarch usurped the aristocracy and ultimately replaced them with a different class of financiers: the court Jews.
The problem was the aristocracy formed a class within society while the Jews formed a class outside of society. This outsider status of the Jews inclined them to encourage the development of the nation-state, which considered itself apart from the society's class structure.
