The lack of concern on the part of the European Jewish leadership for the interests of the European people redounded eventually and inevitably to their lack of concern for the interests of their own Jewish people.
The lessons of the 10 Plagues, the lessons of God's concern for the interests of the Egyptian people, seems to have been lost on modern day Jewish leadership.
The Jews trusted the ruling classes of Europe, not their subject classes. To exhibit a genuine concern for the interests of the Jewish people would have meant, first and foremost, to demand sovereignty for them.
