Self-interest as altruism

What does it mean for someone to deserve something? It means another believes that the something belongs to the deserving person. Desert is bestowed by others, like a gift. Even when one experiences one's own sense of desert it is of oneself as a third party.
Desert is self-interest as altruism. Near the root of desert is humility.
One experiences desert with respect to the full spectrum of moral tastes and flavors. To feel the urge of desert requires one to feel a membership in a society that has an authoritative center and a legitimate set of norms.
