A citizen's economic order

The sabbatical year is one way to force the economic actors to anchor themselves in the real economy. It forces the real economy to penetrate every quarter of the lived lives of the population. It forces the ordinary population to be able to subsist on the local economy using skills they need to preserve in themselves because market transaction in those skills is prohibited during the sabbatical year.
The sabbatical year insists a citizen's economic order onto the society the way modern societies insist on a citizen army, on citizen civil defense, and on the citizen’s wielding of power (democracy).
The sabbatical year guarantees the economy, no matter how highly engineered and interconnected it becomes, can return to and still function well in a modular, decomposable state. It anchors the economy in the real domain (just as experimental method anchors scientific inquiry in the real domain) and forestalls the erection of institutions that depend for their viability of the acceleration of the accumulation of value.
Compound interest is a fiction of the virtual, which cannot function in the domain of the actual.
