Direct and total tyranny

One measure of totalitarianism is the degree of intolerance for any opposition to the ruling elites.
When even small deviations from the party line elicit ferocious denunciation and reprisal then we are dealing with totalitarian impulses. When the entire existence of the social order revolves around the service to some ruling cadre, and the rulers are governed by feelings of scarcity and threat then the infra-structure of the society becomes at risk and the 'Father of the People' will endeavor to eliminate the entire nomenklatura in order to be able to rule directly.
Totalitarianism is the direct and total tyranny that comes out of direct and total democracy. The tyranny of the majority becomes the tyranny of the leader.
