The con game is all about the interminable pursuit, about sustaining incompletion indefinitely.
Satiation is embodied in Shabbat because Shabbat celebrates completion, Shabbat forces completion, Shabbat is the interruption of the process that requires one to arrive at completion and nail it down.
"What begins to appear is a hunger for authority – but authority of a particular kind. Authority that requires submission – but just for a minute. Authority that gives the sense of home – but just for a minute. It is an authority that wants to give you something – but not right now. We can't do it right now. It will take a while before we can, but it will be great when we can, and we can because you can, because we need a little more and you have a little more; that's it – just a little more from you, then you can have it all!"
