A manifesation of reverence

Social class is a manifesation of reverence.
Each class knows its place relative to the other class. Reverence is how the classes identify themselves relative to each other.
Reverence is an instrument of authority. When members of a class know their place relative to other classes they are submitting themselves to the authority that defines those classes relative to each other.
