The thesis of secular stagnation

The mature economy or the thesis of secular stagnation was not just about short term shortfalls in demand that could kick the macro-economy into a downward spiral. 
The suspicion was that capitalism did not work as the free market fundamentalists had claimed it did, and that, over the long term, a free market economy could altogether not deliver on what the fundamentalists were claiming it might.
