How things are related/separated from each other

The ecological mind-set emphasizes how things are related to each other whereas the economic mind-set emphasizes how things are separated from each other.
Both the ecological and the economic are important mind-sets and, because they are important, fundamentalism (which is inclined to exclude the other) in either the ecological frame or the economic frame is ill-advised.
Analysis of systemic effects however tend to concentrate better in the ecological frame than in the economic frame. That is why the economic frame serves up decade after decade of business cycles where the economic systems are brittle and unstable, going boom and bust under a discouraging volatility rather than maintaining a steady-state course of stability under the gentle hand of considered and moderate regulation.
