The bourgeoisie are the rulers

The bourgeoisie are the rulers of today's world. The bourgeoisie are the class that exploited the innovations and the expropriations of the Industrial Revolution. The history of the modern era that commenced with the Industrial Revolution is the history of the bourgeoisie. Whatever came out of the political changes the Industrial Revolution spawned must reflect on the character of the bourgeoisie. To the extent the Industrial Revolution enabled the rapacious spread of capitalism, it was the bourgeoisie who propelled that spread.
The bourgeoisie were the ones who were responsible for coming to terms with the challenges of industrial capitalism. The problems of excess and superfluousness were problems the bourgeoisie had to tackle and resolve. If the world is, at present, suffering from the impending ravages of the resource curse, it is the bourgeoisie who will have made it so. After the aristocracy of the ancien regime collapsed, the bourgeoisie took their place. These trials facing the world today are trials the bourgeoisie needed to pass.
