The problem of the asymmetry of interaction is that the left hemisphere hijacks reality and does not relinguish it and return it to the right hemisphere so that we can
"stand in a state of openness and receptivity before the thing once again, may be a deeper and richer 'presencing'." (Ibid).
The failure to relinquish comes in many guises. For the contemporary Rabbinate it comes in the form of refusing to frame the ancient teachings in the interests of the entire people or even of the entire orthodox community but merely in terms of what serves the interests of the yeshiva world.
Talmudic reasoning is failing to relinquish its hold on the spiritual life of the people and of the nation.
