The right hemisphere knows itself in an embodied experience of the world but can become drawn down into the grease and the grime of the world.
The left hemisphere is able to pull the person out of that embodied, worldly morass into a sense of the higher possibilities. The left hemisphere however can become inauthentic by going too far into cliche and blind utility.
The right hemisphere then comes back with an embodied, enlivened sense of the non-personal possibilities and lifts the person up to the values of some greater Other. Here authenticity becomes an agent of the higher values or ideals the human animal is capable of embracing, and by which he can lead his life.
