To be an “am mamlekhet kohanim v’goy qadosh” defines the covenantal relationship as being about the moderation of power.
Humility is the counterpart value in the matter of leadership.
The entire matter of ahimsa, of non-violence, is not so much about the use or mis-use of force as it is about the temperance of power or the use of power for the long term rather than for the short term.
