Not theology

The Protestant Reformation was at bottom a response to the imperial exploitation of the German people by the Roman Pope.
The revolt was less against hypocricy and more against extraction, which, it so happened, led to hypocricy, degeneracy and corruption.
The Reformation was about the material and economic relations that ruled in that time, not so much about the theology.
